That’s why we cheer when Kwanzaa Time is here!

If someone greets you today (December 28th) by saying “Habari Gani“ you respond with “Ujima” (collective work and responsibility) because today is the third day of Kwanzaa.

The THIRD day!?! Oh, my! Clearly, I’ve got a little catching up to do! At the end of Moyenda and The Golden Heart you’ll find pages with translations of words that were used in the story, information about Kwanzaa and the lyrics to the “Kwanzaa Beat Boogie.“

These are the first 4 stanzas. The chant is set to the beat of the children’s game “Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar?”

YOUR TURN!

Find some young people (or others, like you, who are young-at-heart) and give this chant a try!
