KUUMBA — CREATIVITY
I asked classes of second and third graders what they would like to create.
Here are some of the answers . . .
“I want to write stories“
“I want to write music”
“I’m going to draw a picture“
“I’d like to build an airplane”
“I can create a city”
One of the lines in “Kwanzaa Beat Boogie“ is “Add art, words and music and life is great“.
But the children were wiser than the song. They knew creativity comes in so many different styles, shapes, sizes and colors. They knew creativity builds worlds. Kuumba!
