A COMMITMENT IN SEARCH OF A COMMUNITY

Join the challenge! Share the challenge!

I’m not the first person to talk about making the seven principles of Kwanzaa part of your daily life. But you’re here now so why not take a moment to see if this Challenge can inspire you?

UNITY • SELF-DETERMINATION • COLLECTIVE WORK & RESPONSIBILITYCOOPERATIVE ECONOMICS • PURPOSE • CREATIVITYFAITH

You’ve probably seen these words in late December. One Principle for each day of Kwanzaa, beginning with Umoja - Unity.

So why are they showing up in February! Don’t panic you don’t have to know a single word of Swahili to realize that weaving these seven values into our lives, our children’s lives and into the fabric of our communities can only make our present and our future better.

TAKING ACTION

Here’s how you can join the #Do1forThe7 Challenge. Start today by sharing one thing you’ve done that represents one of the seven principles! For the next four days we’re focusing on actions that promote unity. It doesn’t have to be big. Maybe you’re a student who broke up a fight. Or you’re a first responder who de-escalated a tense situation. Maybe you’re part of a family that gets together for one meal a day (or even a week!) to share funny stories, family and world news, daily experiences, bright dreams.

Share your action or praise up someone else’s. But remember, it’s not about talking the talk. We’re walking the walk. We’re celebrating action. So share your triumph and share this campaign.

Let’s get started, everybody! And #Do1forThe7 !

Think ahead!
