I am so excited about Moyenda and The Golden Heart. I think you will be, too.
A young boy goes off on a quest to find a treasure he can bring back to the people he loves. And maybe, just maybe, this journey set in a mythical country in long ago Africa sets the stage for the Kwanzaa holiday created by Maulana Karenga in the 1960s.
Moyenda . . . started as a Read-To-Me book for ages 3-8 but it’s also for anyone of any age who loves a good story and beautiful illustrations. Go to the Shop window and you’ll see examples of the exciting images. I hope you’ll order a book or two while you’re there.
ACTION!
I love folklore. Especially African and African-American tales. One of my favorites is “The Peculiar Such Thing” in The People Could Fly collection by Virginia Hamilton.
Do you have a favorite tale? Please share.
